A sweet nutty streusel topping which should be baked.
1/2 cup | Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed |
1/2 cup | Flour |
1/4 cup | Butter, not melted |
1/4 cup | Nuts, chopped |
In a one quart or larger bowl, combine the Light Brown Sugar and the Flour. Cut in the Butter with a pastry knife until crumbly. Stir in the Nuts.
Bake atop something for 20 minutes or until golden.
Example: Streusel Topped Pumpkin Pie: When your favorite pumpkin pie has only 10 minutes baking time left, crumble the streusel evenly over the top of the partially baked pie. Continue baking an additional 20 minutes (yes, that's 10 minutes more than you would have), or until a clean knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
