Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies the way Grandma use to make them.

Ingredients:

2 cups Flour
3 Tbsps. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
1 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup Brown Sugar, packed
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
12 ozs. Chocolate Chips
1 cup Pecans, pieces (optional)

Directions:

Preheat an oven to 350°F.

Combine all the Flour, Baking Soda and Salt and set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the Shortening, Sugar and Brown Sugar.

Whisk the Eggs and Vanilla together.

Slowly blend the egg mixture into the creamed mixture.  Gradually mix the flour mixture into the creamed mixture.  Stir in the Chocolate Chips (and Pecans if used).

Roll the cookie dough into balls about the size of a quarter (this may be easier after chilling).  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.  Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until golden in color, not brown, not tan, golden.  Do NOT over bake.  Allow to cool thoroughly before removing from the cookie sheet.
